Rugby India Announces 12-Member Team For Asian Games

On September 24, India will play two matches against Hong Kong and Japan.

Rugby India named a 12-member squad for the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, with Sheetal Sharma as captain.

After a 50-day training, the team for the September 23 to October 8 continental multi-sport event was chosen. 

Ten of the 12 players announced on Wednesday were on the Sports Ministry's list of Asian Games-bound athletes released last month, while the other two were not.

On September 24, India will play two matches against Hong Kong and Japan. 

Pool F's fourth country is Singapore. The top two teams from each pool advance to the semi-finals.

The team: Sheetal Sharma (captain), Sweta Shahi, Sandhya Rai (vice-captain), Mama Naik, Kalyani Patil, Vaishnavi Patil, Lachmi Oraon, Dumuni Marndi, Hupi Majhi, Shikha Yadav, Tarulata Naik and Priya Bansal.
