Asian Games 2023, Day 10: Parul Chaudhary, Annu Rani Win Gold; IND Beat NPL To Enter Men's Cricket SFs - As It Happened

The Indian contingent saw yet another medal surge on Day 10 of the Hangzhou Asian Games. Get Asian Games highlights

India are set for their biggest haul in medals at Asian Games. In the 2018 Asian Games, they won 70, their highest ever at the continental games. India have ended day 10 with 69 medals (15 gold, 26 silver and 28 bronze). In cricket, the Indian Men's national cricket team are through to the semi-finals after their win over Nepal. On Tuesday, India's medal charge was led by the athletics contingent with 6 medals while in the morning, it was led by archery. In athletics, Parul Chaudhary (gold, women's 5000m), Annu Rani (gold, women's javelin throw), Tejaswin Shankar (silver decathlon), Mohammed Afsal (silver, men's 800m), Praveen Chitharavel (bronze, men's triple jump), Vithya Ramraj (bronze, women's 400m hurdles) have won medals for India at the 19th Asian Games. India's Narender loses his bout to Kazakhstan’s Kamshybek as he settles with a bronze medal. Narender went down 0-5 to Olympic and world championship medallist Kamshybek Kunkabayev of Kazakhstan in the semifinal to miss out on an Olympic quota.

India's Annu Rani wins gold in Women' Javelin Throw. She hit 62.92m to take the honours.

6:20pm: Athletics - Men's Decathlon
India's Tejaswin Shankar has won silver in the men's decathlon. What an achievement. He marked a National Record of 7666 points after placing fourth in the 1500m.

6:04pm: Athletics - Men's Triple Jump
India bag bronze in Men's Triple Jump event thanks to Praveen Chithravel's first jump of 16.68m.

6:00pm: Athletics - Men's 800m
Mohammed Afsal wins silver in the men’s 800m.

5:47pm: Athletics - Women's 5000m
India’s Parul Chaudhary wins gold in women’s 5000m at Asian Games. The 28-year-old stayed in the top two before stepping up in the final moments to pip Japan's Ririka Hironaka for the top position with a timing of 15:14.75. For Parul, it was a second medal at the continental championships after she had claimed a silver in the women’s 3000m Steeplechase on Monday.

Saurav Ghosal, Abhay-Anahat & Dipika-Harinderpal have qualified for the squash semis and assured India of a medal.

Indian Squash star Saurav Ghosal is through to the semis after defeating Japan’s Ryunosuke Tsukue 2-0

3:14pm: Squash - Women's Quarter-final
India's Tanvi Khanna is out of medal contention as she loses her match against Satomi Watanabe of Japan 0-3 (11-5, 11-6, 14-12)

2:39pm: Kabaddi - Women's Category
Indian Women's Kabaddi team have beaten South Korea by a whopping margin of 56-23.

2:38pm: Squash - Indians In Action
Tanvi Khanna will take on Satomi Watanabe of Japan in the women’s singles quarter-final match, while the mixed doubles team of Dipika Pallikal Karthik/ Harinder Pal Singh take on Jemyca Aribado/ Robert Andrew of Philippines.

1:50pm: Women's Kabaddi - India Up Against Korea
After being held 34-34 by Chinese Taipei on Monday, the Indian women are up against Korea today. Korea are a stronger side on paper, so India will need to up their game.

12:59pm: Archery - Indian Challenge Ends In Recurve
Dhiraj Bommadevara and Atanu Das lose narrowly in their respective men's recurve individual quarter-finals, which means the Indian challenge now ends in the individual recurve section. The Indian women's challenge in the individual recurve section had ended on Monday.

12:16pm: Boxing - Lovlina In Final!
Lovlina wins her bout by unanimous decision (5:0) to storm into the final and assure at least a silver medal for India. She has also qualified for the Paris Olympics with the win!

12:02pm: Boxing - Time For Lovlina
India's Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain is now in action for her 75kg women's semifinal bout.

11:45am: Boxing - Preeti Wins Bronze
Semifinal win not to be for Preeti, as she loses the bout and will end with a bronze medal.

Preeti is now in action in her women's 54kg semifinal bout. Can she surmount the Chinese challenge?

10:45am: Squash Mixed Doubles - Abhay-Anahat Win
India's Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh prevail over the Hong Kong pairing of Tsz Wing Tong and Ming Hong Tang in straight games 11-10, 11-8 to win their Pool D encounter.

10:20am: Ojas Joins Abhishek In Final!
Ojas Pravin Deotale puts up a fantastic show in his semifinal, pipping Yang Jaewon of South Korea 150-146 to set up an all-Indian individual men's compound final where he will face teammate Abhishek Verma. Gold, silver both confirmed for India. 

9:58am: Men's Cricket - IND Win!
India beat Nepal by 23 runs and progress to the semifinals of the competition. Chasing a target of 203, Nepal gave it their all but ended up with 179 on the board.

9:46am: Archery - Abhishek Through To Final!
Abhishek Verma advances to the gold medal match in the men’s compound individual event, beating South Korea’s Joo Jaehoon 147-145. 

9:38am: Women's Hockey - India Thrash Hong Kong 13-0
India absolutely pummel Hong Kong 13-0 in their last group stage match to proceed to the semifinals in style.  

9:14am: Archery - Jyothi Beats Aditi In SF
In an all-Indian semifinal, Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeats Aditi Gopichand Swami 149-146 in the compound women's individual semifinal. Jyothi proceeds to the summit clash, while Aditi will fight for the bronze medal.

8:42am: Medal In Canoe Sprint! 
India have their first medal of the morning via canoe sprint. Arjun Singh and Sunil Singh Salam win bronze in the men’s canoe doubles 1000m final, finishing behind Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan with a timing of 3:53.329.

8:35am: Men's Cricket - Avesh Strikes
Avesh gets india's first breakthrough in Nepal's chase of 203.Avesh gets some extra bounce to dismiss Aasif, who edges it through to keeper Jitesh. First international catch for Jitesh on debut. Nepal 36-1 in 4.5 overs.

8:39am: Archery - Abhishek, Ojas Makes SFs
Abhishek Verma and Ojas Deotale win their respective matches to enter the semifinal round. All four Indian compound archers now into the last-four stage.

7:55am: Men's Cricket - Yashasvi Cracks 48-Ball Ton
The young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scores a typically aggressive hundred to take India past 150. He is out at 100, but has done his job. Follow the match live here

7:54am: Men's Decathlon - Tejaswin 3rd In Discus Throw
Tejaswin does well in the discus throw too. He registers his personal best throw of 39.28m and notches up the third position in the discipline. The Indian is still in the overall lead at the event.

7:29am: Kabaddi - India Win
India set aside Bangladesh 55-18 to start their campaign on a confident note.

7:01am: Archery - Aditi Makes SFs
India's Aditi Gopichand Swami defeats Amaya Amparo Conjuangco 149-143 to move into the semi-final stage. She will face her teammate Jyothi Surekha Vennam in the semi-finals later today.

6:39am: Men’s Decathlon - Tejaswin 5th In 110m hurdles
The men's decathlon event starts with 110m hurdles. India's Tejaswin Shankar ends fifth with a time of 14.78s. Tejaswin took the lead last evening after winning his pet discipline high jump and the 400m race, .

6:35am: Archery - Jyothi Through To SFs
India's Jyothi Surekha Vennam advances to the semi-finals with a 147-144 win over Kazakhstan’s Adel Zhexenbinova.
