England's miserable Ashes tour ended with one last calamitous batting failure as Australia surged to a 146-run victory on the third day of the fifth and final Test match at Bellerive Oval, Hobart on Sunday (January 16).to win The Ashes series 4-0. (More Cricket News)

It was Australia’s 34th series win against England. England have won 32 in 72 Ashes series played between the two teams. The remaining six series ended in draws.

Since their 3-1 series triumph in Australia in 2010-11, England have lost 13 out of 15 Tests in the country, averaged 23.45 with the bat, and nearly 41.94 with the ball.

** England’s 146-run defeat was eighth for Joe Root in Australia as captain. Joe Root equalled West Indian Brian Lara's eight defeats in South Africa - the record for most defeats as a visiting skipper in a country.

** England lost all 10 wickets for 56 runs, following their best opening stand of the series between Rory Burns and Zak Crawley, which sort of sums up the tour for them.
