After a superb start to the 2023 Asian Games on Day 1, India began Day 2 on a rousing note, bagging its first gold medal via the men's 10m air rifle team comprising Rudrankksh Patil, Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar. The team broke the world record in the process, and Aishwary topped it off with an individual bronze. Indian Women's cricket team have clinched gold at the Asian Games 2023 in the Gold medal match. With this, India are now in the top five of the medals tally. The men's 25m rapid fire pistol team followed it up with another bronze to take India's medal tally to 10. Before that, the rowing quartet of Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar and Ashish won the country's first medal of the day as they clinched bronze in the men's four final, and another quartet of Parminder Singh, Sukhmeet Singh, Jakhar Khan and Satnam Singh clinched bronze in the men's quadruple sculls. Later in the day, the Indian women's cricket team defeated Sri Lanka to add another gold medal to the tally. Monday will also be a busy day for Indian athletes in boxing, swimming and tennis. 4:42 pm: Chess - Individual Events
In Chess invidual events, Indian women players had a mixed outing. Dronavalli Harika suffered a loss while Koneru Humpy played out a tie. In the men's, Arjun Kumar and Vidit Santosh won their games in the third round of men's individual competition.

4:09 pm - Handball - Women's Group match - IND VS JPN
In the women's group match, India have started their campaign with a defeat to Japan by 41-13.

3:00pm: Women's Handball - IND Vs JPN
The Indian women's handball team began their campaign on a losing note, losing to Japan 13-41 in their group B clash. Menika, who netted four goals, was the sole bright spot for India giving them a fourth minute lead. But thereafter, it was all about Japan as they fired on all cylinders to race to a 21-4 lead after 30 minutes. Japan pumped in 20 more second-half goals to open their campaign with a bang. India will face Hong Kong, while Japan will play Nepal in their next group match Wednesday. Hosts China are the other team in the group. Top two teams will make the semifinals slated to be held on October 3.

India's Vidit and Arjun defeat Thailand’s Prin and Nguyen of Vietnam, respectively, in the men’s individual round three.

2:42pm: Women's Cricket, Gold Medal Match
India beat Sri Lanka by 19 runs to win gold medal. After posting 116/7, they restricted Sri Lanka to 97/8. Match report check here.

2:16pm: Women's Cricket, Gold Medal Match
India in for a fight. Asking rate rising every slowly. Sri Lanka now need another 43 runs from 30 balls. They are 74/4 in 15 overs. It's going to be thriller. 

1:55pm: Women's Cricket, Gold Medal Match
India are in a strong position to win the final. Rattled by Titas Sadhu;s three wickets, Sri Lanka are struggling at 50/4 in ten overs. Target 117.

1:26pm: Women's Judo
Indian judoka Garima Choudhary bowed out after losing in the women's 70kg pre-quarterfinal by Ippon to Ryoko Salinas of the Phillipines. The 23-year-old Salinas knocked down Garima 10-0s1 in just two minutes and two seconds in elimination round. This was Garima's third appearance in the event. She had lost in the repechage round in 2010 while in 2018 (Jakarta) she went down in in the pre-quarter finals.

After clinching the 10m air rifle bronze medal along with his team members Adarsh Singh and Anish, Vijayveer Sidhu is now in action at the individual final, and is looking to add another medal to India's kitty.

India wins its 10th medal. The men's 25m rapid fire pistol team comprising Adarsh Singh, Anish and Vijayveer Sidhu has clinched the bronze medal, making it the shooting contingent's fifth medal so far.
