In the wrestlers sexual harassment case, the public prosecutor has informed a Delhi court that the minor wrestler is not opposed to Delhi Police's closure report.

Initially, the minor wrestler had accused the outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment, but she later withdrew from the case. Based upon her and her father's statements, the Delhi Police filed for the cancellation of the case.

The Delhi Police had registered an FIR under the sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), Act based on the minor's complaint. In the second case based on the complaint of six women wrestlers, the police in June filed a charge sheet and booked Singh, a Member of Parliament from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for sexual harassment and stalking under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The minor and her father, who recorded their statement before Additional Sessions Judge Chhavi Kapoor in an in-chamber proceeding, said that they were satisfied with the police investigation and had no opposition to the Delhi Police's report in the case, reported PTI.

The court, after recording their statements in the matter, reserved its order for September 6 on whether to accept the police report seeking cancellation of the case, said public prosecutor Atul Srivastava to PTI.

In June, seeking the cancellation of the minor's case, the police said, "In the POCSO matter, after the completion of the investigation, we have submitted a police report under section 173, CrPC, requesting for a cancellation of the case based upon the statements of the complainant i.e the father of the victim and the victim herself."

Singh is currently out on bail. For weeks, top wrestlers of the country, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia, held a protest. The Union Sports Ministry formed two panels to look into the allegations of sexual harassment but it was only in April that the Delhi Police filed two FIRS: one FIR under IPC for women wrestlers' complaint and second FIR on the complaint of minor under POCSO sections.
