The US Military aircraft carrying 200 illegal Indian immigrants is expected to land at the Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar, Punjab on Wednesday.

As per a PTI report, the US military plan C-17 is carrying immigrants from Punjab and other neighbouring states.

As per reports, the deported passengers include 25 women and around 12 minors. The majority of the deportees are from Punjab’s Majha belt, including Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, along with Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, and a few from Patiala, Mohali, and Sangrur. Reports further add that many of the deportees also hail from Haryana.

The report cited Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav and said that the Punjab government would receive the immigrants and set up counters at the airport.

However, the state's NRI affairs minister expressed disappointment in Trump's call to deport these individuals. As per Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, these immigrants have contributed to the US economy and should have been given a chance to get permanent residency.
