What is the gim all about? It has been a government-sponsored campaign, marked by road shows in the country and outside, towards building up a tempo for a one-on-one meeting between the government and investors to discuss Rs 32,000 crore worth of viable projects vetted by gim knowledge partner PriceWaterhouse Coopers. The thrust areas are infrastructure, ports, power, tourism, IT, education and health. There’s virtually no opposition to the GIM except for noises from fringe Maoist groups like Porattam.

This should bring cheer to the 42 lakh unemployed youth in the state. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating. If Antony does manage to attract investors, then he would have turned economic reforms from mantra to reality.
