Rahul Gandhi Nominated To Parliamentary Standing Committee Days After Regaining MP Status

Due to a 2019 defamation case over his "Modi surname" remarks, Rahul Gandhi's MP status was disqualified temporarily from March 2023 and on August 7 it was reinstated. Rahul Gandhi also got back to his old constituency of Wayanad in Kerala.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was nominated to the parliamentary standing committee on Defence on Wednesday. Days after his Lok Sabha membership was reinstated, Gandhi is back to the same parliamentary panel.

Due to a 2019 defamation case over his "Modi surname" remarks, Rahul Gandhi's MP status was disqualified temporarily from March 2023 and on August 7 it was reinstated. Rahul Gandhi also got back to his old constituency of Wayanad in Kerala.

Other nominations of leaders

According to the Lok Sabha bulletin, Congress MP Amar Singh has also been nominated to the parliamentary committee on Defence.

The solo Aam Aadmi Party member of Lok Sabha, Sushil Kumar Rinku has been nominated to the committee on agriculture, animal husbandry and food processing. He won the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-poll recently.

Faizal P P Mohammed, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party was reinstated in Lok Sabha in March has been nominated to the committee on consumer affairs, food and public distribution.
