Amid the ongoing Kanwar Yatra celebrations, clashes broke out in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa on Monday after stone pelting was reported. The intensifying situation forced the police to resort to lathicharge on the mob in a bid to bring the situation under control.

It has been reported that the incident occurred when the Kanwar yatra, organised by a religious organisation, was passing through Kaharwadi area in Khandwa.

A video that emerged on social media, purportedly showed that the crowd was running helter-skelter as the police, wearing protective gear, were seen lathicharging on some people.

According to the officials, a vehicle was damaged during the clashes.

The district administration said the situation was under control and appealed to the people not to believe or spread rumours.

They also said that no loss of lives was reported and the police would be scanning the video footage of the clashes.
