BJP Election Manifesto Promises Uniform Civil Code And NRC In Karnataka

BJP chief JP Nadda unveiled the manifesto, BJP Praja Pranalike, in the presence of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and party veteran BS Yeddyurappa at 11 am at the party headquarters in Bengaluru.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections. 

Of its top promises, the party has said that they will implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) based on the recommendations given by a high-level committee which is to be constituted for the purpose and the introduction of the National Register of Citizens in the state to ensure the speedy deportation of illegal immigrants.

The Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has promised the implementation of UCC in the state ever since he took charge as CM. 

The document, named BJP Praja Pranalike, was released in Bengaluru today by the party's national president JP Nadda. It included top 16 poll promises if the party comes to power.

"The Manifesto for Karnataka has not been formulated sitting in an Air-conditioned room, rather a due exercise has been done; a great amount of toil and perseverance by our workers who visited every nook and corner of the States got suggestions and connected to lakhs of the households before this content was created," Party President JP Nadda said while releasing the manifesto in the presence of chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and former chief minister Yediyurappa.

Top promises

The party said that they will provide three cooking gas cylinders to all BPL families annually; one each during the months of Ugadi, Ganesh Chaturthi and Deepavali and half litre Nandini milk everyday to BPL families. It also announced Atal Ahaara Kendra in every ward, which will provide food at affordable cost.

The party also included monthly ration kits for households below poverty line, a fixed deposit scheme for women from scheduled castes and tribes, and a plan to develop Karnataka into a hub of electric vehicles as its main promises. It also promised a Chemotherapy and dialysis unit in every taluk of the state. 

The party said it would also create a special wing in the Karnataka police called ‘Karnataka-State Wing against Religious Fundamentalism and Terror (K-SWIFT).

They also said they will develop Bengaluru for the next generation by designating it as a 'State Capital Region' and executing a comprehensive, technology-led city development program. It promised to improve the "ease of living" for apartment residents in Bengaluru through a consultative committee. An initiative will be launched to drive collaboration between small and medium-sized industries and industrial training institutes.
