India is celebrating its 77th Independence Day today with Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurling the national flag at the historic Red Fort in Delhi. He delivered his 10th consecutive Independence Day address where he spoke of cycle of violence, incidents of atrocities against women in Manipur and said that India is with people of state. He lauded his government's achievements and set a roadmap for the next few years. The celebration hosted around 1,800 people from different walks of life, including sarpanches of more than 660 villages, construction workers contributing to the Central Vista Project, along with teachers, nurses and fishermen.

Greeting people on the significant day, PM Modi said, "Best wishes on Independence Day. We pay homage to our great freedom fighters and reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling their vision. Jai Hind!" This event will mark the culmination of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, which were initiated by the Prime Minister in 2021. In the days leading up to August 15, PM Modi urged the people to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement from August 13 to 15. He asked people to change the display picture of their social media handles to the national flag, as part of a “unique effort” ahead of the country’s important day.
