A young couple's haven transformed into a grotesque place of crime- when a 25-year-old Nazibur Rahman Bora stained his hands with the blood of his wife and her parents. The accused and his deceased wife were residents of Assam's Golaghat district. A love story which began at the onset of Covid culminated in a gruesome murder of three, this Monday. Soon after, the accused landed at the police station with their nine month old son, and surrendered.
Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma visited the victim's extended family and assured justice to the 24-year-old and her parents' ominous murder. "A proper investigation will be conducted, and I hope that further details will be revealed after that," he said. Chief Minister Sarma also told reporters that even Ankita, the sister of the victim, was beaten by the accused. “In connection to the incident, she had written a letter to me, but I missed it. Generally, I receive several letters, but I did not get this one,” he said.

According to the police, Nazibur, a mechanical engineer by profession, became friends with Sanghamitra on Facebook in June 2020. The friendship soon metamorphosed into what they felt like 'love' and the two eloped to Kolkata in October. Later, although Sanghamitra's parents were succesful in bringing her back home, she already had her marriage registered in Kolkata's court.
The next year, in 2021, late. Sanjeev and Junu Ghosh- Sanghamitra's' parents, accused her of theft, potentially in an attempt to bring her home. Following her arrest, the deceased spent a month in judicial custody before being granted a bail and returning home. However, in January 2022, the yooung couple in love eloped again. The couple lived in Chennai for five months then moved to Golaghat in August after finding out about Sanghamitra's preganancy. They bore a son in November last year and continued to live at Nazibur's home- till Sanghamitra moved out with her infant son to her parents house, in March 2023.

The deceased had accused Nazibur of toturting her and had lodged a complaint against him. Nazibur was registered for- attempt to murder and kept in jail for 28 days, preceding his bail. After his release, the convict faced resistance from Sanghamitra and her family when he expressed his wish to see their son- following it up with registering a complaint against them for assault.
Tension between Nazibur and his wife resurfaced rather intensely this time, when on Monday afternoon he murdered his wife and her parents- before surrendering to the police. Following which, the Ghosh' were found lying in a pool of blood at their residence.
