Russia’s Defence Ministry said it has destroyed 55 Ukrainian drones overnight across several regions and over the Black Sea, in one of the largest single-day drone barrages reported in recent weeks.
The regions affected include Voronezh, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Kursk, and Bryansk, according to a statement on the ministry’s Telegram channel.
In Voronezh, 12 drones were intercepted. Governor Alexander Gusev said at least 17 people were injured in the city after debris from downed drones struck residential buildings. Damage was reported in multi-storey apartment blocks, a kindergarten, and commercial facilities. Most injuries were minor, and emergency services responded at multiple sites.
In the Lipetsk region, a drone crashed into an industrial site in the city of Yelets, injuring one person. Governor Igor Artamonov confirmed the incident and said that three drones were intercepted in the region overall.
The Bryansk authorities reported debris falling in the village of Sluchevsk, resulting in at least one person being injured. No fatalities were reported in any region as of Tuesday afternoon.
Russia’s Defence Ministry also reported downing 32 drones in Belgorod, six over the Black Sea, and one over Kursk. The ministry said all drones were launched by Ukraine, but Kyiv has not issued any statement on the incident.
The attacks follow a pattern of increasing long-range strikes by Ukraine targeting Russian infrastructure. The Lipetsk region, in particular, hosts a key Russian Aerospace Forces training base, though no military sites were officially reported hit.
Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage. The war, now in its fourth year, has seen frequent cross-border drone activity despite both sides denying intentional targeting of civilians.
