Apple supplier Foxconn has announced plans to go ahead with the $1.5 billion display module plant in India despite US President Donald Trump's request to refrain from producing in the nation. The move came to light during an exchange filing at the London Stock Exchange where Foxconn said that it was investing the said amount Yuzhan Technologies (India) Pvt Ltd, with the plant expected to come up in Tamil Nadu.

The investment is reported along with the Taiwanese contract manufacturer's ongoing $2.56 billion investment in its 300-acre Devanahalli plant in Karnataka, as reported by The Economic Times

A senior government official stated that “Supply chains don’t reorient themselves overnight. Companies that are as big as Apple make supply chain decisions after months and years of strategising. One stray comment which discourages them from their move is not going to change the fact that they want to double down on production in India,” as reported by The Indian Express.
