Art Takes The Stage Through A Collaboration Of Designers And Artists At Lakme Fashion Week

When art meets fashion, it is a match made in heaven. Fashion designers have for decades taken cues from artists and used art as an inspiration for their creations. On the final day of the 23rd Lakme Fashion Week at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, leading Indian fashion designers collaborated with visionary artists around the country to combine their creative forces for a show called ‘Fashion Wears Art’. The collection was curated by art aficionado Shalini Passi. Well-known stylist and designer Gautam Kalra collaborated with Siddharth Singh Bokolia, a creative photographer and video journalist, to present a special film shot in the picturesque landscape of Ladakh. Rajasthan-born designer Rajesh Pratap collaborated with conceptual artist Mithu Sen to present a collection about the complexities of the human body. Duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna teamed up with multimedia artist Vibha Galhotra, renowned couturier Varun Bahl delivered an ornamental affair on the blooming of lotus flower with Kerala-based artist Ramachandran, streetwear label Huemn collaborated with graffiti artist Hanif Kureshi. JJ Valaya's collection with photographer Waswo X Waswo drew inspiration from Indian etchings and artworks, while Namrata Joshipura collaborated with contemporary artist Sudarshan Shetty.
