His first album, Tomake Chai (I Need You), an astonishingly innovative tour deforce opened the floodgates for a host of rebel-bards who have changed the face of Bengalipopular music, demolishing the mera Bharat mahaan myths erected and nurtured bythe Establishment. A series of chartbusting albums later, the fire in Suman’s bellycontinues to burn. His new album, Chhoto Boro Miley (Young and Old Together) isonce again not average stuff. Says the songster: "Featured here are seven childrenand five adults. The young ones ask different questions and the elders go through themotions of answering them. But they really can’t, for there are no answers."Suman’s music has always posed uncomfortable questions and shunned pat answers.
