On January 9, Farhan Akhtar turned a year older and celebrated his 50th birthday. To mark the occasion, actress Shabana Azmi posted a sweet birthday wish for Farhan, who is also her step-son. She also shared a photo from their midnight celebrations.
In the loved-up picture, Shabana is seen with husband Javed Akhtar along with their entire family. Joining them were Farhan’s mother Honey Irani, his sister Zoya Akhtar, wife Shibani Dandekar and her sister Anusha Dandekar. The birthday boy, Farhan, is seen smiling in a black T-shirt with black pants, as he posed next to wife Shibani. All of his friends and family joined in. Not to miss, there were three big birthday cakes placed on the table in front, including one in the shape of the number 50

Shabana wrote in the Farhan’s birthday post, “Salgirah mubarak betu #FarhanAkhtar. Jeete raho khush raho bahut saara pyar (Happy birthday son. Stay blessed. Lots of love)”.

Once the picture was shared online, fans could not help but comment on it. Blessing the actor-director on his birthday, a fan commented, “You have such a lovely family”, while another one wrote, “Aapne jis tarah Farhan ji ko betu kaha wo bahut hi pyara hai .. aise laga aap hum men se ek hain and not a distant celebrity (The way you called Farhan ‘son’ is very sweet. It felt like you are one of us and not a distant celebrity).”

It is not unknown that Shabana shares a cordial relationship with husband Javed’s first wife Honey Irani, and their kids, Farhan and Zoya. In an earlier interview with Filmfare, she had talked about their bond and said, “We are very friendly. I have a great relationship with them based on friendship and trust. I value Farhan and Zoya very much and I think they value me. I think a lot of that credit goes to their mom Honey (Irani). I must say that she was very generous.”
She also credited Honey for raising Zoya and Farhan in a way that they are very accepting. The veteran actress had said. “If she had decided that the kids would not be friends with me, then they couldn’t have been friends with me. So I have to accept in all honesty that I owe it to Honey that I have such a beautiful relationship not only with her children but also with her. We have a beautiful, happy bond. And I don’t poke my nose in their business. If I feel there is something they would rather not talk about, I do not talk about it.”
Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani parted ways in 1978, and Javed married Shabana Azmi in 1984.
