Stewart added, “I lit my universe on fire and I watched it burn. Speaking very candidly, it was a really traumatic period in my early 20s that kick-started something in me that was a bit more feral … I’m really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater. That’s a new thing for me. Age has made me smarter and calmer.”
She also revealed that she had no reason behind her involvement with Rupert Sanders nor a reason behind cheating on the 'Batman' actor; she claimed that she was just going through a self-destructive phase when the affair with the filmmaker began. The intense backlash she faced online significantly affected her mental well-being.

The affair between Sanders and Stewart came to light in July 2012, which led to her separation from Robert Pattinson. Despite an attempt to reconcile in October that year, the 'Twilight' couple's relationship didn't work out, finally coming to an end in May 2013.
As for their personal lives' status today, in August 2019, Kristen confirmed her engagement with screenwriter Dylan Meyer in November 2021. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson has been dating singer-model Suki Waterhouse since 2018. They are living together in Los Angeles and are expecting their first child.
