SS Rajamouli’s film ‘RRR’, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, has been making India proud by clinching multiple awards. However, ‘RRR’ wasn't picked as India's official entry to Oscars 2023, and director Pan Nalin's ‘Chhello Show’ was. In a recent interview with an international publication Variety, Jr NTR reacted to why ‘Chhello Show’ was chosen over ‘RRR’ as India's official Oscar entry.

He said, "I don’t think there is a lot of politics going on with what films should go. I think the panel, which is sitting down there, knows what they do the best... Hindi has primarily been a national language for a very long time and that’s why it has taken prominence. For us, choose RRR or don’t choose RRR, RRR has already made us proud."

For the unversed, ‘RRR’, a fictional period drama written by Vijayendra Prasad and directed by SS Rajamouli, revolves around two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, respectively. The film was bankrolled on a budget of Rs 550 crore by DVV Danayya.

‘RRR’ won a Golden Globe for 'Naatu Naatu' for the Best Original Song. After that, the film won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song trophy at the 28th Critics Choice Awards, which took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Clearly, the audience has fallen in love with the Ram Charan-NTR Jr hook step, and Rajamouli managed to invoke 'Mera Bharat Mahan' during his acceptance speech. The filmmaker was also taken by surprise by James Cameron, the creator of 'Avatar', when he mentioned that he had seen 'RRR' twice.
