Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan's next project, The Odyssey, will hit the screens in Imax on July 17, next year. Nolan is shooting the action epic entirely with Imax film cameras. As per reports in international outlets, the Imax tickets for The Odyssey, will be available to go on sale this week.
A report in Deadline states that the film tickets will be on sale for a limited time, on July 17, 2025 — exactly one year before its theatrical release. Tickets will only be available for select showtimes for theatres with Imax 70mm screens.
Universal Pictures is yet to comment on the early tickets sales.
"Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026," the studio had announced in December last year.
About The Odyssey
The film is an adaptation of ancient Greek poet Homer's epic poem. It has star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, and Mia Goth.
The story revolves around Odysseus (played by Damon), King of Ithaca, and his 10-year long journey back home after the Trojan War. Holland is playing Telemachus, Odysseus' son.
The Odyssey teaser was leaked online recently, where it had glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea and the Trojan Horse. It also gave a sneak peek into Telemachus and King Menelaus' characters.
Nolan has also written the script, and produced it alongside his wife, Emma Thomas, under their banner Syncopy.
Nolan's last film was Cillian Murphy starrer Oppenheimer (2024) which won the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Lead Actor, Best Score and more awards in other categories at the 96th Academy Awards.
As per reports, Oppenheimer grossed $191 million at the worldwide box office in Imax.
