Zeishan Quadri dons several hats. He is a writer, actor, director and producer. He wrote the story and co-wrote the screenplay for the crime drama 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. But Zeishan enjoys direction the most as he feels that being a director one can take full responsibility for his or her work. ''Direction is the part which I enjoy the most. You are the captain of the ship and take the responsibility. I never wanted to become a producer. I became a producer because I wanted to make what I want. I don't want anybody's input or anything like that,'' told Quadri to Outlook.

He also feels that in the industry there are very less writers who are directors. But due to OTTs, many writers have turned into directors now. He added, ''A writer has a vision and if he directs it, it's great. But also, the direction is not everyone's cup of tea.''

Zeishan further said, ''When I did 'Gangs of Wasseypur' as a writer, I had a point of view but Anurag (Kashyap) did it way better than I thought. It also matters who is the director and how experienced he is. You have to trust your director.''

He is not happy with the misuse of abusive or cuss words in today's shows or films. Zeishan shared, '''Gangs of Wasseypur' was a landmark movie. The language we used in it was for authenticity. You don't feel you are in a different world when you see the movie. Now, most of the makers first write the abusive words and then they put the story. I am fed up with all this."

''Also, there is a major problem with the actors. When actors like Manoj Bajpayee or Vijay Raaz say abusive words, it doesn't look forced. But there are so-called actors who copy them and they look so bad,'' he said.

Zeishan was embroiled in a few controversies. There were reports of fraud cases and FIRs against him. When asked if all those have ever affected him, he said, ''Mentally you get affected and family also gets worried. It also affects my work. But in difficult times, you come to know who is with you. So, it's important you go through such kind of phase in your life".
