After missing out on the FIFA World Cup 2022, Karim Benzema returned to scoring ways as his two late goals gave Real Madrid a much needed 2-0 victory over Real Valladolid. Real Madrid had to be patient with their first goal coming in the 83rd minute from a penalty awarded when Javi Sanchez was punished for handball. The Frenchman then added his second of the night six minutes later from a pass by French compatriot Eduardo Camavinga. The victory moved Real one point clear at the top but Barcelona can reclaim pole position on Saturday when they take on city rivals Espanyol.
