10:00 PM: Goodbye!

The League stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has come to an end. India won nine out of nine matches in a row and are into the semi-finals, while the Netherlands are knocked out of the World Cup. That's it from us, catch the coverage of IND Vs NZ first semi-final match on Wednesday. Till then, goodbye!

9:53 PM: Captain Speak (Post-Match)

Rohit Sharma: "Since we started the tournament, for us, it was all about thinking about one game at a time. We never wanted to look too far ahead because it's a long tournament. It was important to focus on one game. Different venues and we had to adapt, that's exactly what we did. Very pleased with how we have played in these nine games. Very clinical from game one till today. That's because different individuals have stepped up at different times. That's a good sign for the team. We know the conditions, but when you play different opponents, that's a different challenge. We adapted really well., We started four games in a row and then we had to bat first, seamers did the rest along with the spinners. It's important, results do matter to keep the dressing room environment lively. There's going to be a lot of expectations, we wanted to keep everything aside and focus on the job at hand. We wanted to play the game on the field with a lot of fun and that reflected on our performances."

Scott Edwards: "We played two good games of cricket, gave ourselves opportunities in other games which we'd have liked to win. Little bit tricky to say where we were compared to where we wanted to be. We were pretty confident with the style we play. We knew it's going to be a tough tournament. We've got a lot to learn, lot to get better before the T20 tournament next year. They showed pure class with the bat. There were periods where we bowled well, they just soaked up the pressure. They are going to be an extremely hard side to beat in this World Cup. We are a very young side, lot of young guys in the set-up, it is about growth for us. In terms of fixtures, not sure."

12:18 PM - Can India Go 9-0

The prospect of invincibility awaits the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team. Unbeaten in eight in the ODI World Cup 2023, the Men in Blue could make history if they beat the Netherlands in their final league stage game; no team has previously won nine matches in a row in an ODI World Cup, with Sri Lanka (1996) and Australia (2003), coming close - eight - when the entire tournament could be won in as many games. Of course, India could yet finish the 2023 edition with 11 wins, that is, if they go all the way!

11:56 AM - Head-to-head

It's 2-0 in favour of the India. In their first ODI World Cup meeting, India's star-studded batting line-up was tested by the Dutch bowlers at Paarl. Sachin Tendulkar top-scored with 52 as India managed only 204. But with Javagal Srinath (4 for 30) and Anil Kumble (4 for 32) taking four-wicket hauls, the minnows were bundled out for 136 and India registered a 68-run win. That was in 2003. The two teams met again during the league stage of the 2011 edition. And this time, India won by five wickets in New Delhi. Batting first, the Netherlands set a 190-run target. India, despite initial struggle, completed the task with 81 balls to spare.

Preview!

Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa - all have challenged hosts India previously in the league stage, and all have lost. India, with eight wins in eight, have comfortably topped the group and are now aiming for a record-breaking ninth successive win against the Netherlands.

A shock triumph against South Africa was the high point of the Netherlands' ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign - but it could yet get better for the Dutchmen, provided they are successful in beating India. The Netherlands can go eighth with a win and secure a place for themselves alongside the seven best teams in the world in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
