After their forgetful run at the recently concluded ODI World Cup in India, England are to visit West Indies to play three ODI and five T20I matches in the bilateral series. Wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler will lead England's team in both formats on their tour. The Three Lions will have only six players from their World Cup squad on the Caribbean tour. Main players including Joe Root, Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Mark Wood and Ben Stokes have been rested. England have announced a young team with limited international cricket experience. Josh Tongue was ruled out from the entire tour due to an injury and Matthew Potts was named as his replacement in the squad.

West Indies have named Shai Hope as their ODI captain with pacer Alzaari Joseph as his deputy. Opener batter Kjorn Ottley marks his comeback to the ODI squad. Wicket-keeper batter Shane Dowrich, who was recalled in the ODI squad announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Cricket West Indies confirmed that and will not name a replacement for him in the home series.

All-rounder Sherfane Rutherford, who joined Mumbai Indians recently for the upcoming IPL season was also called in the West Indies squad for the ODIs against England. Another all-rounder Matthew Forde was also added to the squad. These two uncapped players may make their debut in ODIs against England.

Earlier this year, West Indies failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup and this was the first time since the start of the World Cups that the Caribbean team was not part of any ICC global event. Shai Hope-led side would like to write a new chapter starting with hosting England for the eight matches of white ball cricket.
