Crisis Man

Vijay Hazare's 116 in the first innings at Adelaide was his first Test century. In six Tests and 11 innings prior to this one, he had managed just 207 runs at 20.70, with a highest score of 44.
Hazare became the 12th batsman, and the first: Indian, to score a century in each innings of a Test. it was the third such feat in a losing cause, after England's Herbert Sutcliffe (176 and 127 against Australia in 1924-25) and West Indian George Headley (107 and 106 against England in 1939).
Subsequently, two other Indians emulated Hazare in scoring two hundreds in the same Test: Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid. Gavaskar is the only batsman who has achieved this feat three times.
In all, Hazare played 30 Tests and scored 2192 runs at an impressive 47.65. He hit seven centuries - that's a hundred every 4.3 Tests. Among Indian batsmen who have scored five or more Test centuries, only Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar havea better Tests-per-century figure.
Hazare revelled in crisis situations, averaging 51.46 in Tests where India followed on; in fourth innings, his average was 58.50.
