Bevon Jacobs has been called up by New Zealand for the first time almost a month after he was picked up by Mumbai Indians for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. (More Cricket News)

Jacobs is a part of New Zealand's squad for the upcoming home T20I series against Sri Lanka. Both teams will play three T20Is with the series starting December 28.

Jacobs recently attracted cricketing world's attention when Mumbai Indians bought him at the IPL mega auction for Rs 30 lakh. An unknown foreign player getting picked in IPL is always a big deal. And more so when MI, a franchise known for unearthing hidden talent, put faith in someone.

His recent selection for New Zealand has yet again ignited interest in the young Kiwi batter.

Who is Bevon Jacobs?

Jacobs is a right handed lower order batter known for his big hitting abilities. Born in South Africa in 2002, his family moved to New Zealand when he was just three.

Jacobs also made his First Class debut this season after switching to Auckland and started with scores of 75 and 79.

Recently, he scored a 16-ball 39 for New Zealand XI in a warm-up game against Sri Lanka.

In the IPL, Jacobs is set to share the dressing room with his teammates Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult alongside other star cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.
