The parents of batting wonder Vaibhav Sooryavanshi are set to accompany him during the national team’s tour of Ireland and England, and the BCCI is set to bear their expenses in the UK.
The 15-year-old Sooryavanshi was on Saturday included in India's T20I squad after an impressive run in the recent edition of the IPL for Rajasthan Royals.
“The board will look after the expenses as we believe it is crucial for the young boy to have his family around him,” a BCCI official told PTI.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said in a press conference that this decision was necessary because the 15- year old kid is transitioning from young age cricket to senior level cricket
BCCI Keen For Vaibhav's Comfort
Saikia also revealed that Sooryavanshi's father has accompanied him for the ongoing India A tri- series in Dambulla, Sri Lanka
Saikia added in his statement that all these arrangements are being done just for the kid's comfort pertaining to his current age.
The Board's main concern is to not let the player feel isolated in unfamiliar surroundings and environment.
A Role To Fulfill Beyond Cricket
Saikia and the board doesn't want the youngsters to feel overwhelmed due to the new surroundings.
Sooryavanshi's rapid growth hasn't been short of overwhelming, from triumph in the u-19 World Cup to slaying in IPL 2026 winning the orange cap, including a century and five fifties.
Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar said that the youngster "picked himself" on the basis of his recent performances.
"We have high hopes of him, and I think he just has picked himself really", Agarkar had said.
India will tour Ireland for two T20Is to be played on June 26 and 28 in Belfast, before travelling to England for five T20Is and three one-day internationals.
The young left-hander is also a part of India's squad for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.
Sooryavanshi is currently with the India A side which is set to compete in a one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka, with Afghanistan being the third side.
