The New Year has brought with it fresh seasons of the major T20 leagues across the world. While the Big Bash League in Australia enters its business end and the International League T20 nears commencement in the United Arab Emirates, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is also set to kick-start its 2024 edition. BPL is among the most keenly tracked T20 leagues of and from the sub-continent, alongwith the Indian Premier League and the Pakistan Super League. This is the 10th season of Bangladesh's premier 20-over franchise-based cricket league, and it will begin on January 19, 2024.
Current and former star international cricketers like Ben Cutting, Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, Richard Ngarava, Andre Russell, Curtis Campher, Azmatullah Omarzai and Fakhar Zaman will participate in the seven-team competition, along with renowned local players like Mustafizur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahmudullah and Mashrafe Mortaza.

While the opening match of BPL 2024 features Durdanto Dhaka up against defending champions Comilla Victorians, the second game of the day will witness Chattogram Challengers taking on Sylhet Strikers.
