Capa’s Golden Portfolio

The Mexican Film Festival is here to give you a glimpse of the country’s entertainment industry with an interesting selection of movies to be showcased over four weeks. It includes The Mexican Suitcase—the story of the recovery of 4,500 negatives by Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David ‘Chim’ Seymour taken during the Spanish Civil War and found 70 years later in a closet in Mexico City, and their journey from France to Mexico. Then there’s the modern day story of the (car) chase for unrequited love and a man’s journey from ‘sin to church’. The festival—a Mexican Embassy collaboration, brings a mix of cultures for varied and interesting viewing experiences. Till July 31, IHC

Detox At Home

‘Healthy you’ is in vogue, with plenty of products to burn a hole in your pocket; but you don’t need to look beyond your kitchen. Start your day with a glass of lukewarm water with a squeeze of lemon juice. Replacing your coffee cups with green tea is the next step. Avoid carbohydrates like white sugar and flour, and shun fried food. Consume raw foods as much as possible and shake a leg to a Bollywood song or two to burn it out!

A bicycle rider went a mile in three minutes with the wind, and returned in four minutes against the wind. How fast could he ride a mile if there was no wind?

Answer Three minutes and 25 and 5/7 seconds. He could go a mile and a third in four minutes with the wind, and one mile in four minutes against the wind. Therefore two and one-third miles in eight minutes gives his actual speed.

Even His Dog Winks

The Indian Cartoon Gallery brings the works of English painter, printmaker and satirist William Hogarth. Displayed are Hogarth’s political caricatures, some of the first in the genre, his comic sketches and acid-tipped pictures of commentary on rambunctious 18th-century England. Their canonical greatness apart, they can be interpreted in the modern-day context. Till July 31, Indian Cartoon Gallery
