Road Hooliganism: Meerut Truck Driver Drags Car For Hundreds Of Metres On Road

Meerut police arrested a truck driver on Monday for allegedly dragging a car for hundreds of metres in a viral video. The police confirmed that no one was in the car at the time of the incident as per an Indian Express report.

The accused, identified as Amit Singh a resident of Alipur Morna, under the Hastinapur police station of Meerut was arrested and the truck was seized from the Rithani Sangam area. In the purported video shared multiple times on social media, the container truck can be seen dragging a white car for hundreds of metres on the road.

Partapur police station SHO Ramfal Singh was quoted by media reports saying, “The car driver was honking a lot from behind, but the truck driver could not hear him. So the car driver drove ahead, stopped in front of the truck, and got out to complain to the driver, but the truck driver did not listen to him and dragged the car past four to five pillars." Singh took charge of the case after the video popped up online.

A resident of Shatabdi Nagar, Meerut, the car driver Anil Kumar filed a complaint on Sunday against an unknown person. The FIR was registered under IPC sections 279 (rash driving) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees).
