Did you resign or were you sacked?

I handed in my resignation at 11 am on July 21 and it was only after that that Manohar Joshi announced that I had been sacked. I did not expect this from him. All I can say is that Joshi is lying. I had quit.

Was it necessary to make the threats on you known on the floor of the House?

I had apprised the CM of the situation but his attitude was very flippant. Because of this complete lack of seriousness on his part, I was compelled to announce the incident on the floor of the House. It was the voice of my conscience speaking and I still don’t know what the repercussions will be.

Why do you feel that the party is targetting the Marathas?

The Marathas have no place in the Sena. Marathas are in a majority in Maharashtra and whichever party wants to rule this state cannot neglect the Marathas. The minute they see a young leader gaining in popularity and likely to have a good future, they bring up the wall of caste and thwart him. The young leaders of the party are totally fed up.

How do you think the Shiv Sena will fare in the next elections?

All that is happening does not bode well for the party. Only the future can tell how it will fare in the next election.

What are your political plans now? Is it true that you are in touch with the Congress?

I have no plans. I wouldn’t have resigned if I had plans. As of now I belong to the Shiv Sena. I have never spoken to Chhagan Bhujbal and I definitely don’t see the Congress as an option.
