Stone balls, revered for generations by locals in Padlya village, Dhar district, have been identified as fossilised dinosaur eggs by experts from Lucknow's Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, as reported by Times of India.

Vesta Mandaloi, a resident of Padlya village, has followed a family tradition of worshipping these palm-sized balls, known locally as "Kakar Bhairav" or the lord of the land.

Many families in the village also believe in the protective properties of these stone balls, trusting them to safeguard farmland and cattle.

During a recent visit to the area, scientists from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences confirmed that these revered stone balls were indeed fossilised eggs of dinosaurs, specifically belonging to the Titanosaurus species.

In early 2023, 256 fossilised Titanosaurus eggs were also uncovered in Dhar.

Researchers recently identified 92 nesting sites in central India's Narmada Valley, containing a total of 256 fossil eggs belonging to titanosaurs, one of the largest dinosaur species to have ever roamed the Earth.
