Madhya Pradesh: 5 Labourers Killed After Food Factory Leaks Suspected Poisonous Gas In Morena

Among the five who died, three of them were brothers who all worked at the Sakshi Food Products factory in the Dhanela area of the Morena district in Madhya Pradesh.

A food factory in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh leaked suspected poisonous gas killing five labourers on Wednesday. A tank inside the factory emanated gas since Wednesday morning and subsequently affected the labourers working near it.  

Among the five who died, three of them were brothers who all worked at the Sakshi Food Products factory in the Dhanela area of the district.  

According to the reports, the deceased were identified as brothers Ramavtar Gurjar (35), Ramnaresh Gurjar (40) and Veersingh Gurjar (30), all residents of Tiktoli village; Ganesh Gurjar (40) and Girraj Gurjar (28). 

Sub-divisional magistrate Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha told PTI that gas was emanating from a tank inside the factory around 11 am and two labourers entered it to check it.

Subsequently, the two got sick and the suspected poisonous gas then affected three other labourers. 

The victims were taken to the district hospital immediately where civil surgeon Gajendra Singh Tomar declared them dead and sent the bodies for autopsy, reportedly.

The factory makes processed cherries and sugar-free chemicals used in food products.

After the incident, district officials got the factory vacated and a further probe was on.  

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed grief over the deaths.
