Kerala Blast: Police Apprehends Man Who Claimed Responsibility; Arrest Made Under UAPA

It has been reported that the accused, Dominic Martin, was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosives Act and charges of murder. Few hours after the blast in Kerala, he released a video on Facebook explaining why he executed the serial blasts.

A day after the deadly blast in Kerala, police arrested Dominic Martin, the man who claimed responsibility for the multiple blasts at a convention centre.

It has been reported that Martin was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosives Act and charges of murder.

Video released by the accused

A few hours after the incident, Martin, claiming to be an estranged member of Jehovah's Witnesses, surrendered before police in Thrissur district of the state, saying that he carried out the multiple blasts. He released a video on Facebook, explaining why he executed the serial blasts at the Christian sect.

In the video, he claimed he was associated with Jehovah's Witnesses, a minority Christian group, years ago, but did not agree with its teachings anymore.

Three people have died while 14 others are under treatment for less severe burns. 

Over 50 individuals were injured, some seriously, during the multiple blasts at the international convention centre in Kalamassery where the followers from the minority Christian group, Jehovah's Witnesses, had gathered for the final day of a three-day-long prayer meeting.
