Indore: Muslim Woman And Hindu Man Coming Out Of A Hotel Heckled By Mob, Rescuers Stabbed

A young woman and a man from different religions were attacked by 20 something mob and two people who tried to rescue them, got stabbed. Two out of the big mob has been arrested so far.

A mob in Indore allegedly manhandled and heckled a young woman and a man from different religions who were coming out of a hotel. And it is been reported that two people got stabbed while trying to rescue them during the conflict. 

A video of this incident has been going viral on social media. It is said that the incident occurred on Thursday night when the two were coming out of a hotel in Indore, reportedly around 20 people strong mob attacked them and two came out to rescue the duo. According to reports only two people amongst the mob have been arrested, yet. 

According to the reports, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Raghuvanshi said that when the woman and man came out of the hotel after having food, the mob chased and surrounded them and questioned the woman about why she was in the company of a man from a different faith.

"The woman told them she had come to have dinner with the man after informing her parents. She also objected to their misbehaviour. Meanwhile, two persons who came to the couple's rescue were injured after they were stabbed with a knife by someone from the crowd," the Additional DCP said.

Reportedly, a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and Tukoganj police station in-charge Kamlesh Sharma said that seven accused have been identified so far.

Two of the accused, in the 23-26 age group, have been arrested, while efforts to identify and nab the remaining 20-odd persons who formed the mob were underway, Sharma said.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan directed police to take strict action against those involved in harassing the couple.
