As the commencement of the 18th G20 Leaders' Summit 2023 is now almost just a matter of time and India is all set to host the distinguished guests from all parts of the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India is delighted to host the coveted multilateral leaders' summit and has also expressed his firm belief on the fact that the New Delhi G20 Summit would certainly open new avenues towards achieving incluisve development.

What did PM Modi say?

A day before the summit begins in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took it to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and posted, "India is delighted to host the 18th G20 Summit on 09-10 September 2023 at New Delhi’s iconic Bharat Mandapam. This is the first ever G20 Summit being hosted by India. I look forward to productive discussions with world leaders over the next two days. It is my firm belief that the New Delhi G20 Summit will chart a new path in the human-centric and inclusive development."

" Rooted in our cultural ethos, India’s G20 Presidency theme, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - One Earth, One Family, One Future’ deeply resonates with our worldview, that the whole world is one family. India’s G20 Presidency has been inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented. We actively voiced the developmental concerns of the Global South", he further explained. 

Moreover, the prime minister also mentioned about the scheduled bilateral meetings that he will be attending on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.’.

So far, India has already welcomed many of the expected leaders and delegates including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Argentine President Alberto Fernández, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva.

With the formal acceptance of a G20 Leaders' Declaration, the summit will culminate on September 10. The declaration is likely to encompass the key priorities and agreements discussed throughout the sessions.
