Amid escalating political tension over a communal clash during Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) procession, Haryana government last evening ran a bulldozer action and razed two hundread and fifty shanties of immigrants living in Tauru, about 20 km away from violence-hit Nuh, for encroaching on government land.

As both the district administration and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar earlier alleged immigrants were involved in the clashes, the move by the government is being seen as action against alleged rioters.

As per media reports, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar ordered the demolition. Two days back, the chief minister had hinted on the bulldozer action in Haryana.

It has been reported that the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who were earlier living in Assam had allegedly set up shanties on Haryana Urban Authority land in ward number one along Mohammadpur road of Tauru town in Nuh district where over 250 shanties were built in about one acre of land.

It has also been told that the immigrants were reportedly living there for the last four years.

The bulldozer action took place amid heavy police and paramilitary deployment in anticipation of disturbances. Officers from several government departments were also on the spot.
