Delhi: Amazon Manager Killed In Bhajanpura After 5 Unidentified People Opened Fire, 1 Other Injured

The deceased identified as Harpreet Gill was travelling with his relative Govind Singh and around 11:30 pm on Tuesday five unidentified people opened fire at the two in Subhash Vihar.

 A senior manager working at Amazon was shot dead in the Bhajanpura area of Delhi on Tuesday night. The man was travelling with a relative and they had a spat with a few men who shot at both of them later.

The deceased is reportedly identified as Harpreet Gill who was travelling with Govind Singh and around 11:30 pm on Tuesday five unidentified people opened fire at the two in Subhash Vihar.

The victims were taken to the Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital where Gill was pronounced dead by the doctors and Singh was under treatment. Both of them were shot in the head by the assailants, reportedly.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey told PTI that the bullet entered from the right side of Gill's head behind the ear and exited from the other side.

Gill's parents demanded justice for their son and strict action against his killers.

Gills's father reportedly said, "At around 10.30 pm on Tuesday, Harpreet told his mother that he was going out and would have dinner later. My brother-in-law was also with him when the incident took place."

 While his mother told the media, "My son had no enmity with anyone. He was a very hardworking man. I want my son back. We want justice for him."

 Bobby Singh Gill, an uncle of Harpreet, told the media that it was Harpreet's day off and he was out riding his bike with his uncle when it was hit by another two-wheeler.

He further said, "Harpreet was home on Tuesday as it was his day off. He used to take a walk after coming from the office. Around 10.45 pm, he told his mother he was going to take a walk."  

"He was with Govind on a motorcycle. We heard that a two-wheeler hit their bike and sped away hurling abuses at them," Bobby said.  

He said the two chased the men down in a street and got into a fight with them.

"When Harpreet and Govind retaliated, two persons came from behind with covered faces and fired gunshots, hitting Harpreet and Govind," Bobby said.

Harpreet had recently got a promotion and was about to go to Bengaluru, he said. He was unmarried, while his younger brother, a financier, is married and has a kid, he said.

Amanpal Singh, a cousin of the victim, said that Harpreet was about to get an award from the company for his performance. "I got a call on Wednesday morning telling me someone had killed Harpreet … He had no enmity with anyone and had been working for the company for the last 10 to 12 years," Amanpal said.

Harpreet was the backbone of the family and was taking care of all expenses, said Amanpal, a gym trainer.

Govind Singh also lives in Bhajanpura and owns an eatery in the area. The DCP further informed that Singh was taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital later and is undergoing treatment. 

Govind's wife said she has no idea about who shot her husband.

"My husband and Harpreet do not have any enmity with anyone. It seems to be a case of road rage," the woman, who was present outside the GTB hospital mortuary with other family members, said.

The duo was on a motorcycle when the assailants on a scooter and a motorcycle intercepted and opened fire at them, reportedly.

Footage from CCTV cameras of the area is being analysed to identify the attackers, police told the media, adding that the reason behind the firing is being ascertained.

Singh told police that the assailants appeared to be in the age group of 18 to 19 years.

According to the reports, the name of a local criminal, Maya, has cropped up during the investigation conducted so far and he is one of the suspects. Police also said that a case of murder has been registered.

According to the police, six teams have been formed to work on the case. A preliminary probe has suggested that an argument broke out between the two sides before the shooting took place, reportedly.
