Organizing successful elections has always been a challenge in Chhattisgarh’s remote Abujhmad area in the Bastar region, due to the looming Maoist threat and the absence of basic infrastructure.

However, the ongoing assembly elections have witnessed an increased security presence and a new bridge across the Indravati river has provided much-needed road access to the Adivasi villages scattered inside dense forests, even as development challenges remain in place.
