A police case has been filed against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami and AIADMK MLA PR Senthilnathan for allegedly roughing up a protestor at the Madurai airport.

A video that went viral showed the protestor, who was a supporter of ousted AIADMK leader V K Sasikala, allegedly shouting slogans at the former CM calling him "the one who betrayed Chinnamma (VK Sasikala)" in a shuttle bus.

“I am here with Edappadiyar. The Leader of Opposition who is a betrayer. He betrayed Chinnamma (Sasikala). He betrayed the people of south Tamil Nadu by providing 10.5 per cent reservation (to Vanniyars),” he allegedly said in the video, according to a report by Deccan Herald.

In other videos that were shared on social media, AIADMK men, who were waiting at the terminal building to welcome Palaniswami, were roughing up the protestor. In his complaint, he alleged that Palaniswami’s personal security officer snatched his “expensive phone” while he was on Facebook Live, according to the report by Deccan Herald.

The former Chief Minister was travelling from Chennai to Madurai to attend a party meeting in Sivaganga when he encountered the incident. Upon landing in Sivaganga, several protestors demanded him to leave the party and accused him of creating divisions among the party cadre.
