Assam Floods: 75,000 People Affected In 8 Districts, 4 Rivers Flowing Above Danger Mark

A total of 1,515 affected people are staying in nine relief camps in Assam and 52 relief distribution centres are functional at the moment.

Around 75,000 are affected by floods in Assam across eight districts from the floods, according to an official bulletin. 

At least four major rivers are flowing above the danger mark, including the Brahmaputra river. 

Erosion has also been reported at some place in the state. 

A total of 75,209 people are affected by floods and 1,515 affected people are staying in nine relief camps, said officials, as per PTI. A total of 52 relief distribution centres are functional at the moment. 

Officials said that the Brahmaputra has breached the red mark in Dhubri and Nematighat, while the Disang was flowing above the danger level in Nanglamuraghat and Dikhou in Sivasagar, reported PTI. The report said that embankments in four places in Sivasagar district have been affected and erosion has been reported from Kamrup, Kokrajhar and Nalbari districts.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report said the floods claimed a life in Sivasagar district, taking the death toll in this year's flooding to 12, reported PTI. 

Dhemaji is the worst hit with 46,754 people affected, followed by Sivasagar (22,650), reported PTI.
