Heavy fog in Uttar Pradesh resulted in several road collisions on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning killing at least six people.

Bareilly

In Bareilly district's Hafizganj, a tragic incident occurred where two women, Sunita Devi (35) and Prabha Devi (36), lost their lives, and a man named Rajyapal was injured as their motorcycle was hit by a tractor.

Superintendent of Police (rural) Mukesh Chandra Mishra stated, "The driver of the tractor could not see the motorcycle in the thick fog. The driver has been detained, and we are in the process of lodging an FIR regarding the matter."

Unnao

In Unnao, near the state capital, a man named Vijay Kumar lost his life, and at least 15 others were injured in a collision involving three buses, one container truck, and two cars on the Agra-Lucknow expressway.

Bangarmau Police Station SHO Gyanendra Singh explained, "A bus collided with a container truck from behind due to low visibility caused by heavy fog.

Two other buses later collided with the bus, followed by two cars, leading to a pileup. The victim and the injured passengers were from the buses and have been admitted to a hospital."

Baghpat

In Baghpat district of Western UP, a tragic accident occurred when a van collided with a truck on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, resulting in the death of two women, Seema (44) and Mandeep (38), and injuries to 11 others.

SHO Rajiv Singh mentioned, "It appears that the accident occurred because the van driver failed to notice the truck due to fog."

Agra

In Agra, around a dozen vehicles piled up on a national highway, leading to one fatality and injuries to six others, who were admitted to SN Medical College for treatment.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Agra City) Suraj Kumar Rai stated, "Of the seven victims, one died, and four are still undergoing treatment at the hospital. Normal traffic has resumed on the stretch."

Among the vehicles involved in the Agra pile-up was a pickup truck carrying roosters. A video purportedly showing locals running away with roosters circulated, but no complaint has been filed yet.

Etawah

In Etawah, three individuals were injured after being hit by a truck on the Agra-Kanpur National Highway under Jaswantnagar area of the district on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the three were standing on the roadside when they were hit by a truck, and they were admitted to a hospital, with one of them in critical condition.
