Kolkata Knight Riders humbled Sunrisers Hyderabad by 54 runs at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Saturday. After opting to bat first, the Shreyas Iyer-led side got off to a good start (65/1 in 7.2 overs) before they got reduced to 94/5, courtesy Umran Malik's triple strike. Andre Russell (49 not out off 28) and Sam Billings (34 off 29) stitched a 63-run partnership to bring KKR back in the game. Russell stayed not out till the end smashing three sixes in the last over to Washington Sundar, and propelled KKR to 177/6. In return, the two-time champions kept it tight from the word go. SRH, who got off to a slow start, lost wickets at regular intervals and stayed far away from threatening KKR. They were eventually resticted to 123/8, thanks to Russell's 3/22 and Tim Southee's 2/23. Abhishek Sharma scored 43 off 28 while Aiden Markram hit 32 off 25 but all that was not enough to take SRH home. Get KKR vs SRH highlights here.

“When I went out to bat, when they were bowling into the wicket, it was a bit difficult. Our bowling attack pulled them back tonight. The mindset is very clear, I practice to go and do that from ball one. The first ball in the nets, I hit for sixes. I get my body ready for any situation… Hard work paid off today. Good to contribute in both aspects tonight. I'm just going to keep it going, hopefully we can qualify.”
Only six runs came off Andre Russell's last over and KKR have won the game by 54 runs. This big win will help their net run rate, which is in negative. Nonetheless, they are still alive in the playoff race.
Tim Southee gets his second wicket of the game. Shahsank Singh is gone for 11 off 12. SRH need 65 off 11.
SRH 113/8 (18.1)
Andre Russell strikes again! He gets the wicket of Marco Jansen now. SRH need 65 in 13.
SRH 113/7 (17.5)
Washington Sundar has been dismissed by Andre Russell. It was a slower ball and Sundar played it into the hands of Venkatesh Iyer at square leg. SRH need 71 in 17.
SRH 107/6 (17.1)
Only one run came off Varun Chakravarthy's fourth over. He finishes his quota with figures of 1/25. The required run rate gets over 19 for SRH and this match seems out of their reach now unless some magic happens.
SRH 101/5 (16)
Aiden Markram has chopped a full length delivery on his stumps. He tried to create room for himself but a clever Umesh Yadav pitched it full and far from him. As a result, Markram edged the ball on his stumps.
SRH 99/5 (14.4)
Two SIXES on the over of Varun Chakravarthy from Aiden Markram and SRH see a glimmer of hope. Markram is looking good at the middle. Can he resue SRH today? Well... Let's see.
SRH 91/4 (14)
Snil Narine has dismissed Nicholas Pooran on run-a-ball 2. Pooran hit the short ball back to Narine who gleefully caught it. It was bowled way outside the off stump and Pooran should have tried to play it on off rather than trying to work it on leg side.
SRH 76/4 (12.3)
Varun Chakravarthy has trapped Abhishek Sharma. The SRH openers departs on 43 off 28. No doubt, SRH are in big-big trouble. They need 106 more off 49.
SRH 72/3 (11.5)
Sunil Narine finally bowls an economical over. He conceded three runs off his third over. Only 15 runs have come off the last three overs. SRH need 109 more in 54 balls.
SRH 69/2 (11)
Tim Southee piles on the misery of SRH. Their scoring rate was already slow and now Southee has got the wicket of Rahul Tripathi, who has played quickfire knocks for SRH this season. SRH need 128 more in 70.
SRH 54/2 (8.2)
Abhishek Sharma hit two consecutive SIXES to Sunil Narine in the latter's second over tonight. 17 runs came off it and Narine's figures read 2/27. Not a good sign for KKR.
SRH 54/1 (8)
Only six runs came off the first over of Varun Chaktavarthy. KKR are bossing the game currently. Required run rate gets close to 11. SRH need some boundaries to stay in the hunt.
SRH 37/1 (7)
Another failure for Kane Willamson. He has been cleaned up by Andre Russell. It was an ordinary delivery on the stumps bowled at a good length. Williamson wanted to play a ramp shot but missed the ball completely. He departed on 9 off 17.
SRH 30/1 (5.2)
Kane Williamson is batting on 9 off 15 balls. His strike rate is 60. He needs to accelerate or his innings will put pressure on the rest of the players, especially his fellow opener Abhishek Sharma. Required run rate gets close to 10.
SRH 30/0 (5)
Sunil Narine conceded 10 runs off his first over. It is a costly one according to his standards. Abhishek Sharma hit a FOUR on the very first ball before he and Kane Williamson beautifully rotated the strike.
SRH 27/0 (4)
2.4 - Kane Williamson hit a lower full toss back to bowler Umesh Yadav but the right-arm pacer failed to hang on to the catch. They need to convert such chances otherwise once these batters get set, KKR will be in trouble.
Six runs came off the over.
SRH 17/0 (3)
1.3 - Andre Russell has dropped Abhishhek Sharma's catch at short mid-wicket. Abhishek mishit it but Russell, who was stationed at mid-on, failed to get to the catch on time.
10 runs came off the over of Tim Southee.
SRH 11/0 (2)
Abhishek Sharma in on the strike, Kane Williamson is at the other end. Umesh Yadav has the new ball in hand. Here we go!
That's tight bowling from Umesh. He conceded only one runs off the over.
SRH 1/0 (1)
Andre Russell hits three SIXES in the last over and KKR have got a good total on the board. Kane Williamson miscalculated a bit and that saw Washington Sundar bowling the last over that too to Russell and Sunil Narine. When only two singles came off the first two balls, it looked like a good over but then Russell smacked three of the remaining four balls out of the boundary ropes.
This is brilliant bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He kept the slower ball away from Sam Billings and the English batter mistimed it to Kane Williamson at cover. The 63-run partnership is finally broken and SRH can have a sigh of relief, knowing that Andre Russell is still there at the other end.
KKR 157/6 (18.5)
Despite conceding a SIX in it, it was a good over from T Natarajan as he bowled to two set batsman Andre Russell and Sam Billings. He hit the right lengths in the rest five balls and choked the batters for runs.
KKR 151/5 (18)
Andre Russell is trying his best to take KKR to a respected total. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled tight lines yet Russell managed to get two FOURS in his over. Three more overs are remaining in the game KKR should look to get somewhere around 180.
KKR 142/5 (17)
Umran Malik concedes 10 runs off his last over yet ends his quota of four overs with 3/34. He started really well today but failed to keep the rhythm going.
KKR 129/5 (16)
A lower full toss from T Natarajan and Andre Russell has dispatched it over the mid-wicket for a big SIX. The ball travelled for a long time in the air before finding the surface. It seems more than a 95-metre strike.
KKR 119/5 (15)
Only four runs came off the 13th over. SRH have done well after the first over of Umran Malik as they have conceded just 28 runs in the last five overs. KKR's hopes rely on Andre Russell.
KKR 100/5 (13)
Rinku Singh gets out on 5 off 6. He was given LBW out by the umpire on the ball of T Natarajan before he and non-striker Sam Billings wasted too much time at the middle discussing whether to take the review or not. By the time Rinku decided to take the review, the 15-second timer had ended. Good for KKR as the ball was found to be hitting middle and off stump.
KKR 94/5 (11.3)
Umran Malik has got his third wicket of the game. He has trapped Shreyas Iyer this time. It was an ordinary delivery on the legs and Iyer flicked it to deep mid-wicket.
KKR 83/4 (10)
KKR were going really good till the end of 7th over but Umran Malik's twin strikes have put SRH ahead in this game once again. The two-time champions now have to rebuild their innings. Time for Shreyas Iyer to play a captain's knock.
KKR 78/3 (9)
Way outside off from Umran Malik and he manages to trap Ajinkya Rahane. The KKR batsman hit it high in the air and Shashank Singh took a really good catch at deep point. Rahane departs on 28 off 24.
KKR 72/3 (8)
Nitish Rana is gone for a 16-ball 26! Umran Malik has provided SRH the much-needed breakthrough. It was a short ball outside off stump but Rana wanted to flick it on the leg side. He ended up handing a catch to Shashak Singh at square leg.
KKR 65/2 (7.3)
Ajinkya Rahane seems to have pulled a hamstring. He is looking in trouble. The physios already examined him at the start of the 7th over but he is struggling.
KKR 63/1 (7)
Another good over for KKR. First, Ajinkya Rahane hit a SIX to Marco Jansen before giving the strike to Nitish Rana, who also scored a SIX. KKR have accelerated well in the last two overs getting 35 runs.
KKR 55/1 (6)
This is some good counter-attack from Nitish Rana. He decided to take on T Natarajan and was successful in his plan. It stared with a FOUR down the ground before Rana hit two consecutive SIXES. 18 runs came off it.
KKR 38/1 (5)
The pitch has good amount of help for the bowlers. Marco Jansen got some good bounce off the surface. On the other hand, KKR batters are lacking intent to score runs. As a result, they are going at five runs per over.
KKR 20/1 (4)
It was an economical over from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Only one run came off it. This is a good start for SRH.
KKR 18/1 (3)
Venkatesh Iyer has chopped the ball on his stumps. It was a good length delivery bowled outside off from Marco Jansen, Iyer tried to play it with a lot of power. As a result, the ball got the inside edge of his bat and crashed the stumps.
KKR 17/1 (2)
1.3 - That's a poor ball from Marco Jansen. He bowled Ajinkya Rahane on the hips from over the wicket and the batsman hit it wide of fine leg for a SIX.
0.5 - A bit fuller from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Venkatesh Iyer plays a beautiful straight drive for a FOUR.
It was a decent first over from Bhuvi. He first offered too much width before coming back to tight lines.
KKR 9/0 (1)
Venkatesh Iyer takes the strike, Ajinkya Rahane is at the other end. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the new ball in hand. Here we go!
