Among them is Mrityunjaya “Jay” Prajapati, a technology entrepreneur and blockchain architect whose work focuses on digital skill identity and credential verification.
With more than 16 years of experience across fintech, blockchain infrastructure, and enterprise technology, Jay Prajapati has built ventures operating across India, the UAE, and Africa. A Computer Science graduate from NIT Bhopal (MANIT), he began his entrepreneurial journey in 2010 after receiving the Reliance Excellence Award early in his career.
Over the years, he has founded multiple ventures in the technology space, including a startup that was later acquired by a Canadian company. He also built a digital payments platform that scaled to more than 15,000 retail partners and processed significant transaction volumes across markets. Alongside this, he developed a Web3 developer ecosystem serving over 20,000 professionals globally.
Today, Jay is best known as the Founder and Architect of Skill Passport, a blockchain and AI-powered digital skill identity platform operating under Open Skill Foundation, Bangalore.
The idea behind Skill Passport emerged from Jay’s long-standing interest in how technology can make professional credentials more portable, verifiable, and globally interoperable. Built using blockchain infrastructure and aligned with W3C Verifiable Credentials standards, the platform focuses on enabling institutions and professionals to maintain secure and shareable digital credentials.
According to Jay, the future of workforce mobility will depend heavily on trusted digital verification systems.
“India has already demonstrated how large-scale digital infrastructure can transform everyday systems. The next phase is creating trusted and interoperable digital skill identities that can work across institutions and borders,” he says.
Skill Passport combines credential verification with AI-powered assessment models such as Skill Strength Score and Industry Fit Index. The ecosystem also includes collaborations with organizations working in hiring, upskilling, and AI-based assessment technologies.
Apart from building technology platforms, Jay has also focused on developer communities and educational initiatives. Through Skill Yatra, a national campus initiative launched in collaboration with BeetleX, his team conducts career-focused masterclasses across colleges and universities. The initiative aims to help students better understand industry expectations and emerging career opportunities.
Industry observers have increasingly highlighted Jay’s work in blockchain infrastructure and digital identity systems. He has been featured in technology and startup publications including YourStory, Hackernoon, DEV Community, and Medium for his contributions to blockchain innovation and digital public infrastructure discussions.
