About Gandhari
Set against the atmospheric backdrop of a fictitious town, Joypurra, Gandhari is a story of belief, resilience and courage. It follows Bani, a mother whose devotion is tested every time, and she is compelled to face unimaginable challenges with conviction and sacrifice.
Apart from Taapsee, the ensemble cast brings the intensity and emotional complexity to Bani’s journey. It's about a mother's journey to find her daughter and how she navigates the dangerous world, encountering new threats.
The film also marks the reunion of Kanika Dhillon and Taapsee Pannu following the success of Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba (2024).
Dhillon, in a statement, shared, “With Gandhari, we wanted to tell the story of a woman who refuses to be defined by her circumstances. Bani's journey is raw, relentless and deeply personal, and that is what drew me to her from the very beginning.”
She called the reunion with Taapsee “incredibly special”, adding “There is a deep creative trust and understanding that we have built over the years, and watching her bring Bani to life with such commitment and intensity was truly rewarding.”
