James Gunn, the co-CEO of DC Studios which produces movies based on DC Comics, has confirmed that an untitled 'Arkham' series is in the works. Previously, there was news about Matt Reeves producing 'The Batman – Part 2' and a spinoff of 'The Penguin'. Gunn confirmed this information on Threads where he was answering questions posed by fans.

A Threads user asked James Gunn, “Sir, could you tell me if Matt is producing another Batverse project, other than The Batman 2, Penguin and Arkham?”

To which James Gunn replied, “Right now Matt is producing Arkham as a DCU series, so there’s just the two for now.” The co-CEO clarified that while The Batman-2 and The Penguin are set in the DC Elseworlds, this untitled 'Arkham' series will be set in the main DCU timeline.

Additionally, he praised Matt Reeves and added that this untitled series will also be produced by him because they love him as a director and producer.

In the Threads conversation, Gunn clarified other doubts and also added that the untitled 'Arkham' series was “one of the first pitches” when he had come on board with Peter Safran. He added that he had no idea about the changes it had undergone before he joined DC Studios. The series was planned to be a part of the DCU.

Previously, it was reported that the 'Arkham' series would focus solely on the Gotham City Police Department. But the story was changed with time to focus only on the inmates at the Arkham Asylum which serves as a hospital and prison to Batman’s enemies. It was touted to be a prequel spinoff to The Batman, which is not a part of the DCU and the DC Elseworlds.
