The I’m Looking for Zombie anime has unveiled its first trailer, offering an early glimpse into a story that blends apocalypse with warmth and humour. Alongside the footage, key details about the cast and production team have also been revealed, building anticipation around the upcoming series.
Adapted from Katsuwo’s manga, the anime presents a world shaped by a devastating outbreak known as “Red Day”, which is said to have wiped out nearly 90 percent of humanity. Years later, survivors are shown living in isolated villages, carefully avoiding infection, while cities remain overrun by zombies.
A different take on the zombie anime genre
Despite the grim premise, a lighter tone has been established through the trailer, with the story focusing on everyday survival, friendships and small moments of normalcy. It is shown that a new generation has begun stepping beyond safe zones, attempting to reclaim abandoned spaces.
At the centre of the narrative is Aki, who is seen setting out with friends in search of their father, who had earlier left their village. Their journey takes them into infected areas, where danger coexists with humour and human connection. The tone is described as a mix of slice-of-life storytelling and zombie survival, offering a more grounded perspective on life after collapse.
Cast and production details revealed
The main cast has been announced, with Miyari Nemoto voicing Aki, alongside Lynn as Natsuki, Toshiya Miyata as Haru, Hibiku Yamamura as Yu and Yuka Nukui as Sakura.
The anime is being directed by Shinya Une at Studio Comet. Series composition is being handled by Kenichi Yamashita and Aki Itami, while character designs are being overseen by Narumi Shimoji. Music composition has been credited to Kenta Higashoji, with Kyohei Suzuki serving as assistant director.
The series marks another adaptation of Katsuwo’s work, continuing the creator’s presence in anime storytelling.
The anime is scheduled to premiere in October 2026.
