Pakistan shocked England by 14 runs at Trent Bridge on Monday in the sixth match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as they ended a long losing streak in ODIs despite two centuries for the host nation.
Joe Root (107) and Jos Buttler (103) were guiding the tournament favourites towards an imposing target of 349 after Pakistan left England needing a World Cup record chase. The pair put on 130 for the fifth wicket but both were out shortly after reaching their hundreds and the tail had too much to do.
It was a remarkable turnaround for Pakistan, whose opening match of this World Cup had seen then slump to 105 all out in a seven-wicket defeat by the West Indies at the same ground. That defeat was their 11th straight loss in completed one-day internationals, including the recent 4-0 series defeat by England.

Early Setback For England
Shadab Khan trapped Jason Roy in front in the third over itself and England also wasted a review. The Babar Azam dropped Joe Root at first slip off Mohammad Amir in the sixth over. Root was at 10 then. England were 37/1 after six overs.
England Need 'Record' Chase
Pakistan didn't quite score 100 runs in the last ten overs, but managed to do some damage. They set a 349-run target. The highest successful chase in a World Cup game was 329/7 by Ireland against England at Bengaluru in 2011. Yesterday, South Africa came close to breaking that record, only to fall short by 21 runs. By the way, Pakistan's total is the highest in a World Cup game without an individual hundred. Mohammad Hafeez was the highest scorer with 84 off 62. The previous record belonged to South Africa -- 341/6 vs UAE, at Wellington in 2015.
Can Pakistan Score 100 Runs In The Last Ten?
A 53-run stand from 43 between Mohammad Hafeez (64 off 52) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (27 off 24) strengthened Pakistan's position. But they will need to post at least 350 to stand a chance against England. And this venue is a graveyard for bowlers. But Moeen Ali has done well, 10-0-50-3.
Moeen Ali Gets His Third; Pakistan 200
A 88-run stand between Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez ended by Moeen Ali, his third wicket of the day. Good catch from Chris Woakes. Azam made 63 off 66. Sarfaraz Ahmed is the new man. England were 200/3 after 33 overs.

Roy Drops A Sitter
Jason Roy dropped Mohammad Hafeez when the Pakistan batsman was on 14, just arrived after the departure of Imam-ul-Haq, to Moeen Ali in the 21st over. Adil Rashid not so lucky as his spin partner. Pakistan were 160/2 after 27 overs. Babr Azam on 49 off 49.

Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman (36 off 40) in the 15th over, Moeen Ali. But at Drinks, they are well placed at 90/1, after 16 overs.
England Lost Review Very Early
Pakistan off to a flier. England, desperate for warly wickers, wasted the review in the eight over. Jofra Archer hit Imam-ul-Haq but there was an inside edge. Pakistan were 69 without loss in ten overs.
