Jitender Gogi, who became Delhi’s most-wanted criminal after the arrest of Sonu Dariyapur, carried out the killing of Haryana folk singer Harshita Dahiya and did not take any money from her brother-in-law, who allegedly planned the murder.
Three days after her murder on October 17 in Panipat, Dahiya’s brother-in-law, Dinesh Mathur, had during interrogation admitted that he was behind it. Mathur was already in jail for a rape case.
The Haryana Police on Wednesday told The Indian Express that Gogi, who became friend of Mathur in Tihar Jail, didn’t take money because the two had worked out an “understanding” that Mathur would help Gogi kill his rivals once he got out of jail.

Harshita, a 22-year-old folk singer, was shot dead in Chamrara village of Panipat by four men, led by Gogi. Gogi and three other accused — Kuldeep alias Fajja of Delhi, Irfan Khan of Baghpat, and Rohit Kumar of Sonepat — pumped seven bullets into her chest at the behest of Mathur, who was lodged in Haryana’s Jhajjar jail at the time, added the report.
Deputy superintendent of police (Panipat) Desh Raj told the newspaper that Mathur admitted Gogi had not taken any money to carry out the murder.
“Our teams are working to arrest the accused, including Gogi,” added Raj.

Harshita had reportedly filed a complaint of rape against her brother-in-law. She was also a witness in the murder case of her mother, who was killed in 2014.
Mathur was interrogated after his wife Lata revealed his involvement in Harshita’s murder. During interrogation, he told the Haryana police that he arranged the murder because Harshita was a witness in the murder of his mother, allegedly by him, in Narela in December, 2014.
The police said Mathur is facing at least 12 criminal cases, including murder and attempt to murder.
