For viewers and sports lovers in Asia, the upcoming edition of the Winter Youth Olympics is special for a reason. This is the first time that the mega multi-sport event is being held in the continent. (More Sports News)

The Republic of Korea is hosting Winter Youth Olympics 2024, which makes it the first Asian nation to organize the prestigious competition. The excitement is building up, as close to 1,900 young athletes from almost 80 countries will participate in the event from 19 January to February 1.

The Games, which will be held in the South Korean province of Gangwon, will feature many venues that were used for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. This includes the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre in PyeongChang and the Gangneung Olympic Park in the coastal cluster.

In all, seven sports and 15 disciplines will be on display with an equal representation of men's and women's youth athletes. The list of disciplines includes alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, figure skating, speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, freestyle snowboarding, ice hockey, biathlon, luge, bobsleigh, and curling.
